We have a fantastic opportunity for a Split Shift HGV Technician at our Exeter location to join the Sparks Team, you will be a key member of our operation.  The role is to carry out all aspects of service, repair and maintenance work on all commercial vehicles that are booked into the workshop.  You will be liaising with the Foreman, Workshop Controller and Service Team to ensure the best customer service for our clients.  We are looking for a candidate with enthusiasm and a dynamic personality who will share our energy and passion and contribute to our ongoing success.  We are very excited about the future, could we be a part of your future to?

The Technician will be responsible for carrying out vehicle repairs in accordance with manufacturer’s procedures within standard times set. 

Duties will include:

  • Vehicle inspection
  • General servicing
  • Fault diagnosis
  • Repair of vehicle defects
  • Road test vehicles
  • MOT preparation/presentation
  • Breakdown/roadside assistance and call out duty
  • Completion of all required paperwork accurately

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified HGV Technician (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three of equivalent)
  • Qualified Roadside Recovery Technician
  • Have previous relevant experience gained in a similar industry
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • HGV Licence preferable but not essential
  • Have a good attitude to work at all times
  • Previous experience working with the Commercial Vehicle sector

Permanent evening shift, based on a 45-hour week would be 1.00pm – 10.30pm. Split shift would be Monday to Friday, week one, 6.00am to 3.30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch. Monday to Friday, week two, 1.00pm to 10.30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch. Flexibility is available for start and finish times to fit with family and work life balance. Overtime is always available but not guaranteed. 

Anyone who starts before 31st October 2024, would receive a joining bonus payment of £1,500, split and paid over the first 12 months of employment

Duties will include:

  • MOT Testing: Carrying out Class 4, 5 and 7 MOT tests to the highest standards, strictly adhering to DVSA and government guidelines.

  • Road test vehicles
  • Completion of all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will:

  • Valid MOT Licence Class 4, 5 and 7
  • Qualified Vehicle Technician: Level 3 Vehicle Technician (or equivalent) accreditation.
  • Proven experience dealing with Commercial Vans of all makes and models
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Have a good attitude to work at all times

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Service Advisor at our Poole location to join the Sparks Team.  Working within the service team in this fast paced, busy depot, you will be a key member at the heart of our whole operation.  This is a very hands-on role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the service department and assisting with workshop control, to maximise productivity and efficiencies, retail invoicing, ensuring that the customer experience with Sparks is kept to a high standard and KPI targets are met.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Parts Assistant/Driver at our Swindon location, to join the Sparks Team.  As a Parts Assistant/Driver, you will be a key member of our operation and will be involved in duties such as delivering exceptional customer service to our customer’s, establishing customer needs for required parts through conversation, diagnosis and recommendations as appropriate, locating and ordering parts, fully conversant with procedures within the parts department, delivering and collecting parts as required, receiving, recording and allocating parts and consumables from suppliers, communicating relevant promotions and offers to workshop control and customers, assist with parts stock checks, report any stock damage or losses, retuning of parts to suppliers. Delivery of parts to customers.   All parts are controlled by our dealer management system DMS.  We request all staff promote the company in a positive way to enhance parts sales and growth opportunities.

We have a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced HGV Technician to join our team at our Swindon Vehicle Maintenance Unit.  This will enable us to support our customer providing better coverage and flexibility and enhancing the service we offer.  The shift will be 4 days on, 4 days off, as our clients business is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This means that weekends and bank holidays would be a normal working day.

The Technician will be responsible for carrying out vehicle repairs in accordance with manufacturer’s procedures within standard times set.
