Sparks Commercial Services is a family run commercial automotive business specialising in vehicle sales, repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles and trailers. Established in 1990 and operate from 7 Locations throughout Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Devon.

Due to continued expansion, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Workshop Controller to support our service team at our Swindon location. As part of the Sparks Team, you will be a key member at the heart of our operation working alongside the Evening Workshop Controller. This is a very hands on and busy role. Working within the team you will assist the daily operation of the workshop and its various components. The workshop currently has 19 technicians and apprentices. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Monitor and control use of all workshop resources (staff, space and equipment) to ensure maximum impact on quality of work, efficiency and profitability. Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of the workshop. To be an active member of the service department team comprising workshop reception, foreman and stores to encourage high staff morale, exceptional customer care and experience.

  • The candidate must have:
  • Experienced in running commercial workshops.
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to multi task and prioritise deadlines
  • Experience of working to KPI’s, budgets and meeting targets
  • Diligence
  • Experience in our automotive industry is essential

You need to be pro-active, take pride in what you do, a willingness to learn and be engaged with training and an interest in pursuing a career within our industry.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 6.00am to 4.00pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch break. Every third Saturday 8.00am to 12noon. There is a requirement to work late on the last working day of the month to ensure all invoicing is complete and WIP is at correct level. Flexibility within the role is essential to meet the needs of the business and team
