The Show Must Go On!

It’s sure to say that this year has been full of surprises, and packed with unrest and uncertainty. But, it’s not all bad news as we come up for air on the other side and can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As we look to the future there are some exciting plans for the Sparks Group, and one of the first steps in those plans is the appointment of Rob Coxon and Roger Millett. Joining the team last month, we couldn’t welcome them with open arms, but they were greeted with hand sanitiser and an elbow bump!

As guru’s in the field, both bring a wealth of knowledge in Commercial Vehicle Sales and have been onboarded to support with business growth and development plans looking forward to 2021 and beyond.  

Rob, who previously worked for the Renault Trucks Group, has 20 years’ experience in the industry and will bring his tenacity and passion to our coastal depots, covering Southampton, Portsmouth and Poole. Rob takes pride in meeting new customers and learning about their business so that he can look to save them money with a personalised truck match-making service and an operational review to understand how each customer can run their fleet more efficiently. 

Knowing the passion and drive that the directors have, joining Sparks was always something Rob had planned to do and was glad when the right time and right team came along. With the addition of Wayne Petherick back in October 2019, Rob is dedicated to making a positive difference at Sparks, and being local to the HQ office in Southampton means Rob can apply his local knowledge to the role, whilst maintaining a good work-life balance.

Our other new member of the sales team, Roger, grew up around trucks, with his father running a business and 6 vehicles. This fuelled his desire to get an apprenticeship as a HGV mechanic and ignited his love for the industry. Starting his career as a mechanic at Renault Trucks, Roger worked his way up through workshop management and into vehicle sales, where he has been for the last 25 years before joining Sparks to support with growth in Swindon and the Dorset area.

Being based at our Swindon depot, Roger has taken a big leap after spending half his working life in the same place, but knows it was the right decision and encourages the change. Bringing his experience and expertise to the group, Roger is ready to put his foot on the pedal and drive new vehicles sales in the area, whilst build strong relationships with customers. Whilst this new role meant a personal shift for Roger, he is excited about the opportunity and values the positive energy that Mike and Julie bring to help encourage new ideas and ultimately, success.

By strengthening our sales team we plan get back on the road and support Renault Trucks as they strive towards a bigger market share in the Commercial Vehicle industry, whilst growing recognition of the Sparks brand across the South.
